Sound has stopped in DVD mocies and games. Who is responsible for this? I just collected my Windows XP from a service shop to upgrade it to a higher drive C:, from 40 Gb to 500 GB and needed to reinstall Windows XP again.
Now, after a couple of trials on games and DVD, at first there was stereo sound, then the left speaker was working, next none was working. I ckecked the Realtek drivers in the Control Panel/Sound and Audio Devices/Hardware, Device Status:This Device is Working Properly. So, where could the problem be? I did not see this Sound Effect Manager in my old computer (before being upgraded). Do you think it could be the problem?

And, by the way, I had to click 'Back' so that I would also lodge a complaint against this website because I have to time to play 'schoolboy' selecting the number of cubes and other objects in the next page. I wonder what does this stupidity, this very ignorance go to do with my query, or are you simply trying to outsmart me or waste my time fiddling with objects so that I can prove you that I am... what, a robot, an alien? How childish!

Hi. I'm having some trouble with my Realtek audio for the past couple of days. Last Saturday morning my audio went out and the jack for my speakers doesn't read on my computer but according to the Device Managers everything is fine. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the the driver and still no sound. Sadly though there's only one port for the audio jack and it's near 2 USB ports. There's one on the back but it doesn't work either. I also found out I have another Realtek driver (ACL880) that I need to install but it keeps on having some errors. I was reading on the 'net that that there's a patch to it but I'm not quite sure. I hope you can resolve my problems. Thank you.

I had to switch towers on my pc yesterday bc the hard drive fried. Reusing the same speakers from old pc and they were always wonderful. Today I plugged them into the new tower and the sound while listening to Pandora is totally different, like it's in a cave or something...any suggestions?

i have a toshiba laptop running windows xp. a friend reinstalled my software after trying to update it but it didnt work so he restored it. after that the sound stopped working it says that realtec 97 is there and working ok but it says it cant start error code 10 tried reinstalling it and alsorts of things but when i do that it says theres something wrong with the file and it cant start.

Realtek HD Audio Manager automaticaly swithes the environment setting for the speakers itself. When i change it to or reset it the moment I play a song or video it switches back. I am using windows XP if it makes any difference. I hope u can help me with my problem.

several days ago, i tried to hook up my mic/headphone combo to headphone/mic jacks on my asus eee pc so i could do some sample voice recording. since then i have had varios types of problems with my audio. at times, the sound just go off. after rebboting my pc, this problem can be solved but then it can come back quickly or some time later. i also get pops, scatches noises playing back music either on you tube or using my music program. also, at times, i noticed that the sound just lags like when i use youtube to listen to a song. several months ago, when i used the headphone/mic combo to chat in a yahoo chat room, i had none of these problems. it was working fine. it could be a virus unrelated to realtek hd but i m not sure. the removal tool is now scanning my hard drive. it is very slow and tedious process for sure. i hope you can help me to solve this problem. thanx.

Problem Summary: Sound cracking and lagging

My audio driver is Realtek 5.10.0.6662. I have a Windows XP operating system. The sound suddenly started lagging and cracking. I have uninstalled the Realteck sound driver (control panel, sound devices, properties etc) and rebooted the computer (the sound function had disappeared on reboot). I then downloaded and reinstalled 5.10.0.6662 (file type was R.270 that said was for the mentioned driver for XP). I rebooted and sound came back but was still cracking and lagging (and slowing down processing power too it seems. Any ideas how to improve/solve this. I also tried 'update driver' but the wizard said I have the latest version...
