Problem Summary: Device detector has stopped working

Hi,

My girlfriend is experiencing a problem when booting up her HP Vista laptop.
The message that keeps popping up is "device detector has stopped working".
When you click cancel to that message it keeps on coming back and you can't do anything on the pc.
I understand that some picture detection program (ACDSee, Olympus...) in the Startup programs is causing that but the fact that you can't get the upper hand when this message is showing makes it impossible to act on it.
Would you please have a fix for this?
That would be great.

Thanks a million in advance for your help.

Best regards,

François
